Roofing Across the Town of Hempstead
The Town of Hempstead spans the entire southern half of Nassau County and includes dozens of incorporated villages and hamlets. The housing stock ranges from 1920s bungalows in Roosevelt and Freeport to postwar colonials in Merrick and Bellmore to waterfront homes in Point Lookout and Atlantic Beach.
South Shore salt exposure. Communities like Long Beach, Island Park, Point Lookout, and Atlantic Beach take direct Atlantic salt air and storm surge. These roofs need corrosion-resistant flashing and secure fastening against coastal wind.
Post-war housing. The inland communities of Uniondale, East Meadow, North Bellmore, and Wantagh are dominated by 1950s-1960s ranches, capes, and split levels. These homes are on their second or third roof, and the current generation is aging out now.
Multi-family. Hempstead Village and surrounding areas have significant multi-family housing stock. Two-family and small multi-family homes are routine work for us across the town.
Flooding history. Sandy hit the south shore of Hempstead hard in 2012. Many homes were rebuilt with improved building codes. Newer roofs in these areas were installed to post-Sandy standards, but homes that escaped Sandy with roof-only damage may still have aging roofs from the 2000s.
